Kevin Costner’s Child Support Battle Victory
A Los Angeles judge ruled in favor of Kevin Costner’s ongoing dispute concerning child support with his estranged wife, Christine Baumgartner.
Child Support Ruling Details
Kevin Costner, aged 68, has been ordered to pay Baumgartner, aged 49, a monthly sum of $63,209 to support their three children: Cayden, 15, Logan, 14, and daughter Grace, 12, as reported by Fox News. Before this ruling, Baumgartner was temporarily receiving $129,755.
Initial Child Support Request and Costner’s Response
Initially, Baumgartner had requested $248,000 per month in child support. Costner argued that he couldn’t afford this amount, especially in light of his expected lower earnings in 2023 following his departure from Yellowstone. Baumgartner claimed this amount was necessary to maintain a similar standard of living for their children as they have with their father.
Argument for Comparable Lifestyle
Baumgartner’s legal team contended that Kevin should provide sufficient child support for their children to experience comparable vacations with their mother, considering the luxury vacations and private jet travel they enjoy with their father. They argued that this should apply even if the child support payments contribute to an improved lifestyle for Christine.
Courtroom Battle and Emotional Toll
The two-day court hearing between Costner and Baumgartner occurred on August 31 and September 1, with both parties testifying.

Kevin Costner’s Reflections
Following the proceedings, Costner shared with Access Hollywood the emotional toll of the courtroom battle with Baumgartner, describing it as a challenging experience. He expressed his enduring love for his estranged wife and hoped for an amicable resolution to the legal action.
Divorce and Prenuptial Agreement Contestation
Baumgartner filed for divorce from Costner in May after almost 19 years of marriage, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split. Their legal disputes encompass child support and the validity of their prenuptial agreement, which is scheduled for trial in November.
